Month One Reflections

My rings don’t fit. They’ve fallen off my fingers. My pants are falling off of me. I’m not kidding. If I don’t wash them and throw them in the dryer every day to try and shrink them, they won’t stay on. My co-workers could “pants” me if they wanted to, but luckily for me, I’m pretty sure that violates several Human Resource codes. Eventually I will get around to buying new clothes, but honestly at this point I’d just rather spend my money on organic produce…like piles of avocados and zucchini…because I love it! I’m going to try to go

Easy Raw Wraps

I love veggie wraps. I would eat veggie wraps every single day, but sometimes it’s just too time consuming to chop up fresh veggies every day to make into a wrap. Raw Yoda gave me a fabulous veggie wrap idea which makes perfect sense and is super easy to do. ***Just make a giant salad, and then use your salad as your wrap filling!*** So tonight, I made a giant salad tonight with everything that I would want in my veggie wrap. I chopped up romaine hearts, asparagus, tomato, mushrooms and celery. I put some zucchini and yellow squash through

For the love of Chocolate

I’m into week 4 and I think my tastebuds are changing. Fruit is starting to taste so sweet to me…to the point that if I have cravings for sugar (which in the past would have been satisfied with skittles, swedish fish, you get the idea) I can now satisfy that craving with fruit. I had an organic apple this morning that tasted like sugar to me. Like someone had injected sugar into the inside of the apple. That’s how sweet it tasted. Crazy! Of course, the chocolate craving can only be cured with one thing…CHOCOLATE. In the past I had

Special K Can Kiss My A**

You know those Special K cereal commercials that say you can lose a jean size in 2 weeks by eating bowls of their cereal and cereal bars and shakes as your meals? Well this weekend I tried on all of my jeans. Every single pair of them. And they ALL FIT. This is a big deal. Jeans are the hardest thing to look good in for women. Seriously. How many women do you see walking down the street and you think damn, she looks great in those jeans! Probably not a ton. I had been a self inflicted victim of

Week 3

I am approaching the end of week 3. Three weeks of being a raw food vegan. It hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had ups and downs, I’ve had moments where I thought, “can I really do this?” to “I just want to order a pizza like the rest of the world” And then my good friend Jodi would text me back and say NO YOU DON’T! haha …But I don’t even eat pizza. Cheese in piles never really agreed with me to begin with. And of course, there is delicious RAW pizza! No meat or dairy required. I’ve had moments

Seasonal Soup

That cool Autumn breeze is blowing in and with it comes…SOUP! Soup, you say? Aren’t you “raw” ??? Why yes, soup! As long as food is not heated above 115 degrees, all of it’s nutrients and enzymes stay in tact and you reap the full benefits of what you are eating. Soup can be heated so that it is warm to the touch and under 115 degrees…and that makes me super happy because I love soup in the fall and winter months. I’ve been trying my hand at my own tomato soup recipe and I think I have it pretty

I Heart Nutbutters

Say goodbye to peanut butter…say hello to nutbutters! Pecan, cashew, macadamia, walnut, almond, and many more! Nut butters are a bazillion times better for you than peanut butter, because the one and only ingredient in nut butter, is NUTS. I borrowed this info from Raw Yoda’s site (lovestreetlivingfoods) Compare for yourself: Ingredients in commercial peanut butterroasted peanutssugar (adverse effects on brain chemistry; causes obesity)molassesGMO soybean oil (high in trans fat–added to make the butter easier to spread)GMO canola oil (used only as a furniture polish until a short time ago, linked with adverse effects in asthma and hay fever sufferers)monoglycerides

A Special Blog Just for the Ladies!

I decided if I’m going to blog about raw food, I might as well share everything I’ve learned and noticed along the way. This would include some information just for the ladies out there. Apparently a side effect of the raw food lifestyle, is that you experience little to zero cramps…during, well, you know. So they’re GONE. I’m talking GONE. This from a girl who in college had to be put on codine so I could sleep because they were that bad. A girl who switched birth control pills four times because they were still bad. They hadn’t been as
