If You Wouldn’t Eat It, Don’t Put It On Your Skin!

That might sound silly to some people. Why can’t we put chemical laden lotions and perfumes and soaps on our skin? I’ll tell you why. What you put on your skin gets absorbed into your body and into your blood stream. It becomes part of your cells, which becomes part of…YOU. Your skin is not some hard barrier that is separate from the rest of you. Think about the cigarette nicotine patch. That’s the little patch that you stick on your skin and magically (ta-da!) the chemicals on that patch go into your body through your skin. Same idea with

My Sexy Raw Juice Feast!

That’s right.  I’m doing a juice feast…FEAST! Not “fast”.  Because who wants to only have a little green juice?  Not I, said the fly! I want a plethora! Not a smattering!  I know people who have done everything from a 3 day juice feast, to a 92 day juice feast (holy smokes!).  But for me, 7 days sounds like a good number.  General rules are you just drink as much green veggie juice as you want.  Or fruit juice…smoothies…whatever you are into.  I am more into veggies because I don’t want an overload of natural sugar.   I want to rid my body of every

Conventional vs. Organic

I was in Whole Foods last week and saw something I haven’t been able to get out of my head.  Hence, this lovely post.  I was searching for organic broccoli.  Three tiers of shelves full of broccoli but no signs to tell me what kind of broccoli I was staring at.  Me to Employee: “Can I ask you a potentially stupid question?”Employee:  “Ohhh! There are noooo stupid questions!”Me: “What kind of broccoli is that?  Do you have organic broccoli?”Employee:  “You know, someone just asked me that same thing a minute ago.  We are out of organic right now. All we

Main Line Raw Vegan Meetup

One of the more difficult things I ran into when I first discovered raw foods was finding others around me who shared that same interest.  My friends and family, by default, slowly came around (since I so passionately and enthusiastically would not shut up about it) but where were those raw sexy veggie eating people?   I knew they were out there somewhere. Facebook turned out to be a huge resource, connecting me with “raw foodies” across the country, but I was still missing that rawtastic community in my own backyard.  When you don’t see what you are looking for

Brushy Brushy!

We brush our teeth! We brush our hair! We brush our SKIN!  Wait.. huh?  We brush our skin?  OH YES WE DO! At least we should!  Why?  The skin is the largest organ in the body! Helloooooooooo people!  Why are we ignoring the largest organ?  You spend 20 minutes or more on your hair but what do you do for your sexy skin?  You need to dry brush! What on earth is a dry brush?  It’s this: Body Brush100% Natural, made with Agave Fibers Dry brushing helps remove cellulite, cleanses the lymphatic system, removes dead skin layers, tones the muscles,

This Blog Post Is Not FDA Approved

I was hanging out with my fab healthy gal pal Marlena this morning and our conversation made it’s way to the topic of FDA Approval.  It stuck in my head all day, so here is my rant about it. Enjoy! People have questioned the validity of raw food, gravity colonics, eating the way we do (basically eating as close to nature as possible) and some people even ask for scientific “proof” or data to “back up” the raw food lifestyle.  We are re-writing the books on healthy.  Our generation.  You and me.  We have woken up from our processed food
