Smoothies and Bikes

I just made the best smoothie ever and now I’m going to go for a bike ride. 1 Banana1 Cup of Strawberries1/2 Cup of BlueberriesHalf a teaspoon of Spirulina1 Scoop of Vanilla SunWarrior Raw Vegan ProteinCup and a half of spring waterand BLEND!It’s so pretty.My sister is in town and her husband asked me if I was using a wide mouth jar for smoothie chugging  (since they have wide mouth beer cans apparently)  Pretty funny.  Smoothie race anyone?  Umm no. 😀I drink half before the gym and half after the gym (or run)  (or bike)Bike?Yes.  Soon.  I have to put

My Take On Vegan Buttery Spreads

I hate to burst everyone’s big “vegan spread” bubble, but I’m going to. I follow a few vegan websites and I see lots of people using lots of vegan “buttery spread” substitutes in their recipes. I wondered…what are IN these magical spreads that everyone is using and raving about??? I looked up a popular one…it said:Expeller-pressed natural oil blend (soybean, palm fruit, canola, olive) filtered water, pure salt, natural flavor (derived from corn) soy protein, soy lecithin, lactic acid derived from sugar beets, and naturally extracted annatto for color.It’s not awful…it could be worse…but I’m not a fan. Why not?

Rawtastic Update

So…I haven’t posted in a bit…well, since the veggie burger incident.  Needless to say, I suddenly had an aversion  to food.  All food.  Saltines were “safe”.  The rest of the fancy named veggies…questionable. I’m now mentally sound and no longer fear my tummy reacting to what I put in it. But I did learn something in the past two weeks that I never noticed until now.  Blogging, about food, can be somewhat…gimme the word people…gimme the word… not annoying…not obsessive..compulsive?
