Random Things I Learned Today

I’m spontaneous.  Today I spontaneously decided that I’m doing a 30 day smoothie-juice feast, with today being day one.  So far so good.  I drank about 48 ounces of green smoothies and made a raw blended soup.  (soup counts) 😀

I learned that if I drink my green smoothie in a coffee mug, no one at work notices, comments, asks questions or makes fun of it.  It’s the strangest thing.

I learned that many people never see what is right in front of them.  I have this ball-chair for a chair at work, and people walk past me constantly and never notice that I am sitting on a ball.   When they do, I point out that I’ve been sitting on it for months.

I learned that sometimes just stringing lights on a tree can put me in a fabulous mood.  They’re so pretty.

I also learned that If I don’t like a situation, I can either change my experience (meaning change my circumstances) or I can change my perception.  Today I chose to change my perception.  Magically I am not as bummed about the cold weather.  (that might be due to the fact that I’m about to head to the gym to sit in the steam room, but that is neither here nor there).  But, I just decided to think about it differently, because my thoughts I CAN control.

I was reminded that there really are amazingly beautiful people in the world (the kind with diamonds on the inside).  I have amazing friends and the fact that just talking to one of them can turn my entire day around…well, that’s pretty incredible.

Sometimes to snap out of a funk, all you need is to change your perception.  Or have a friend throw you over their shoulder.  They both work.

Lovely comments!

  1. Yes!! I love this! Keep smiling…. xoxo

  2. Fun post. 🙂

Interesting about the coffee mug / green smoothie. I love green smoothies… I’m making one today of water, organic mango, spinach, and cinnamon. 🙂

The ball chair… obviously you like it… can you tell us more about it? I’m intrigued.

  3. Kristen – the ball chair is AMAZING! I got it through Gaiam (www.gaiam.com) It basically forces you to sit up straight all the time. It’s a great core workout and you don’t even realize it while you are sitting on it! My back etc was sore after the first couple days of using it, but that’s because it forces you to correct your posture. I love it. It’s a great conversation starter too. I am tall, so I have to sit on it in flat shoes because with heels, my knees would be too high. That’s my only complaint, I wish it was higher for tall people. But I keep flip flops under my desk at work so I slip into those when no one is looking 😉
    Definitely recommend the ball chair!!!

  4. Thank you for the feedback. I’m going to get one 🙂

  5. PS I’m keeping your blog up so I can listen to the music. Great selection!
