What are you going to Finish in 2012?

One of my favorite writers/authors, Jon Acuff, posed that question to the masses on December 23rd.He states, “Today is the day we all share the goals we’re committing to for FinishYear!  Why are we doing FinishYear? Because completed dreams change the world. What are we going to do? Tweet, Facebook post or comment on this blog every day in January with the hashtag #FinishYear to share our progress, roadblocks and encouragement. Why are we doing it together?Because fear always tries to isolate you when you go on a new adventure, and dreaming is best played as a team sport. When and where does it

Pure Food and Wine – NYC

I love NYC at Christmas! We walked around Times Square, went to Top Of The Rock (Rockefeller Center) which is 25$ a person to get up there, but totally worth it for the view.  I think you can also see a similar view from the top of the Empire State Building.  We stopped in at Trump Tower and grabbed some lunch at the Trump Bar and warmed up from the cold.   We spent the next few hours walking around from Radio City all the way down to Park Ave and back before catching a cab over to…PURE FOOD AND WINE! I absolutely

Home for the Holidays

I’m home!  I flew to the East Coast yesterday and am so excited to see everyone! It was a mad packing frenzy before I left…you know how you think you have time for things and then suddenly you have zero time and just one day to get it all finished?  That was my day.    The packages that went out yesterday have my newest packaging!  Round tins instead of rectangle: Oooh lala! In other news, I’ve got a crazy traveling weekend from Philly to DC to NYC and am so looking forward to seeing all of the Christmas sights and

It’s Okay to Ask for Help

Ahhh.  What is it about the end of the year that suddenly makes everything seem insane? The mad rush to get everything done…and I mean everything. From projects and deadlines at work to the rushed shopping trip to the rushed grocery store visit for the frantic rush of preparing a holiday meal. What exactly is that all about? WHO IS THAT FOR? We all do it year after year.  Okay, maybe not everyone, but a whole lot of us.  We just do it.   Do we ever stop and ask ourselves WHY we are doing it? Who is that for?

Dear Lauren – Your Questions Answered

Dear Lauren, I want to start incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet.  The last time I tried I think I did too much too soon and was hungry all the time.  Any words of wisdom?  I know you said those green drinks are filling.  -Alicia Dear Alicia, Let me just say how excited I am that you are willing to give this another shot. It’s very common to decide to do something, and then try out the most extreme version of it…but extremes rarely last.  Going from a Standard American Diet to an all veggie diet over night

Winners of the Raw Ball Giveaway!

Thank you ALL SO MUCH for your feedback about my website.  I’ve read all of your comments and slept on it…and I’ve decided to keep it the site name the SAME!  Raw Is Sexy.  I’m not sure why I felt that the name would limit me to what I could write about – when it’s my brand. I guess I have so much to say, that I really want this site to turn into a  huge healthy inspirational oasis of information as well as a candid look into my life! So I will have a new tab on here called

I Need Your Opinion!

I love Raw Is Sexy.  I do.  It’s my company.  I LLC’d it.  I own the name. That’s pretty cool. But www.rawissexy.com  up to this point has been a lot about food and a little about my life.  In addition to this blog, I also have a store on Etsy for my raw vegan treats, and a store on Etsy for my abstract paintings.  I also sell my photography.  I’m a bit of a Jill of All Trades…or Renaissance Woman (although I hate that term because I always picture ugly poofy velvet dresses and people walking around with goblets and giant chicken
