Recovered after just ONE Week?!

It’s been a week…well, almost a week.  A week ago today I was waiting to go into surgery to have two giant cantaloupe sized tumors removed from my pelvis.  I didn’t get out of surgery until 5 or 6pm PT, so I’m about six hours early on this week estimate.

Today, I feel awesome.  I am walking at normal speed again (which for me is pretty fast because I’m tall and I’ve never been a slow walker), I’ve weened myself off the pain killers and am only taking the giant Motrin they gave me for pain and swelling and the last feat to conquer is going up a bunch of stairs, so that is the task for this afternoon.  I’ve already gone down stairs without a problem, so today is the going-up day.




I feel bruised, like someone hit me in the stomach a bunch, and I feel sore there, but it’s tolerable.  I can walk for a bit without feeling anything though which is nice.  I’m actually starting to feel like a normal human again.  I know I’m not allowed to lift anything for a month and I can’t workout using my core til about 2012 (I’m allowed to powerwalk), but those are the only limitations.

My sister and I went for a walk down to the Pier in Huntington Beach yesterday.  The sun was just beginning to set.  It was so pretty!













We walked to Starbucks.  Something about those red Christmas cups makes me so happy!  And it was so nice to just walk in and order a coffee.  Like a normal person. :)  












This morning my sister woke me up to this super duper nutrient packed smoothie!




Apple, frozen organic blueberries, orange, pineapple and spring water.  To that she added MSM, Vitamineral Green and Earth (from HealthForce Nutritionals), and then we added Glutamine to mine.  




The doctor didn’t cut my muscles during surgery but she did separate them to get the tumors out, and I’m pretty sure that contributes to me feeling sore right now.  The glutamine should help with that.   I’m also taking Arnica.  Not sure if it’s working but it seems to be working.  Hard to tell since I’m eating super healthy meals and taking the Motrin and smoothies but I figure it can’t hurt to add it in there.





I would say on a percentage scale, that my insides feel they at about 70% healed.  And on the outside, I feel close to 100%.  Before surgery I asked my doctor how long recovery was.  She said 4 to 6 weeks.   


It’s been a week (not even).

(don’t worry Mom, I’m not signing up for a marathon or bootcamp class tomorrow…maybe Friday but not tomorrow haha… just kidding) :-D
