Homemade Applesauce

Making applesauce at home is so easy, you’ll never buy it from a store again.

5 apples (you can use  all the same kind or different kinds – I used 2 granny smith, 1 fuji, and 2 yellow delicious)

7 medjool dates (remove the pits)

2 tablespoons of cinnamon

1 to 2 tablespoons of allspice

A tiny pinch of sea salt (optional)

Chop the apples and pit the dates.  Add apples and dates to the food processor.   Pulse the food processor a few times until the dates and apples begin to mix together.  I find it helps to put a couple dates on the bottom of the processor with the apples – helps it to mix better.  Keep pulsing until you’ve achieved desired consistency.

Add the cinnamon and allspice.

Sometimes I add just a pinch of sea salt but this is optional – I find that sea salt helps to bring the flavor out a bit more, but remember it’s just a pinch –  literally just one crank on the salt grinder if you use one.

Pulse again to mix it all together and enjoy!

You can eat this as a stand alone meal or you can add a heaping scoop to your oatmeal, use it as a pancake topping, add it to your awesome non-dairy icecream… 😉
