Raw Edible Pop Art Party

As a Featured Publisher on www.Foodbuzz.com, I am thrilled to have been selected this month to participate in the Foodbuzz 24×24 – that’s 24 dinner parties around the globe in the same 24 hours. Last night’s dinner party went off with a POP!   A RAW EDIBLE POP ART PARTY!   I wanted to create food that was visually stimulating and that you could also, literally, pop into your mouth.  I’ve always been a huge fan of pop art and find myself constantly inspired by art in general, in whatever form it may be.  Finding a way to combine art

A Fruity Breakfast

MMMMM. BREAKFAST! People say that they don’t have time for breakfast. I disagree. It’s the most important meal of the day! You hear people say that a lot and for good reason. You wouldn’t expect your car to run on an empty fuel tank, so why expect the same from your body? If you have time to eat fruit, you have time for breakfast. Breakfast is something that you make time for. Find an extra ten minutes in the morning. Set your alarm for 15 minutes ahead of schedule…and then enjoy! On the Menu: Strawberries Oranges Bananas with raw almond

Cabbage Salad

Cabbage rocks! Not only can it transform a boring salad to a crisp crunchy one but it’s one of those cruciferous veggies that also helps fight cancer! I went to town with a giant bowl of it and I’ve been having some everyday! What’s in it? One head of green cabbage, one small purple cabbage, one giant daikon and carrots. I added mustard seed and a high quality Dijon and ground black pepper for seasoning. This was great topped with tomato, avocado and drizzled with balsamic. You could squeeze a fresh orange over it as well! Read on for more pics!

Day 2 of 31 – Bikram Yoga and Smoothies/Juices

Note to self:   Do not drink fresh orange juice an hour before a Bikram Yoga class.  About 30 minutes in, my stomach said, “what did you do that for!?!”  I almost died last night.  I almost died in class 4 times.  Every time I think I’m going to faint or puke, I hear my mind racing with thoughts like, “Oh no…you can’t do this…you’re going to fall over…maybe you should just stop right now so you don’t faint in front of all of these people…why aren’t you stopping” and I hear my instructors voice cut through that and she says,

A Juicy Sweaty May

It’s May 1st.  Wow that got here quickly.  Last month was probably one of the most stressful months I’ve had in a long time.  I had so many external factors out of my control go haywire and it definitely took it’s toll on me.  It threw off my bikini competition training, it threw off my sleep, it threw off my healthy habits.  Stress sucks, as all of you know.  Some of us are better at handling it than others…and sometimes when it rains it pours.  ….Literally. (Like your upstairs neighbors shower flooding your living room ceiling and living room).  That

Fruity Mornings

I love fruit.   There is nothing better than starting your day with a fruity breakfast!  Or feel free to make some fruit-art for breakfast.  I’ve found that when you take the time to slice up your fruit and arrange it fabulously on a plate, it’s actually more pleasurable to eat it.  You’re creating an entire experience, not just grabbing an apple on the run.  Side-Note – we should be taking our time to eat our meals and not eating on the run. Side-Side-Note: grabbing an apple on the go is still a much better thing to do than say, grabbing a

Cauliflower Pizza Crust

That’s right. Pizza crust made out of cauliflower. Is this possible? Is this magic? Is there a leprechaun and a pot of gold involved in some way? Does Nicholas Cage have anything to do with this?  Surely something this cool involves Nick Cage. Sadly, Nick Cage was not in my kitchen when this magic occured… …but you still get the recipe. I love the idea of pizza but  I don’t like how a traditional pizza is made. Nutrition-less dough, piles of melty cow’s breast milk (well, let’s just call cheese what it really is) and probably not so healthy toppings. *Side note

Weekend Recap

Welcome to my new home. Or second home 🙂 I love this room at my gym.  Balance balls, medicine balls, resistance bands, mats…I kicked my own butt this weekend and am excited to get back into the gym tonight for more. I made an awesome post workout salad (if I do say so myself) of kale, baby spinach, swiss chard, zucchini, tomato, avocado and I used balsamic and some honey mustard mixed together for the dressing.  So simple and so good! I’m hooked on greens lately and love mixing them all up in a salad.   Hope you had a
