Week 3

I am approaching the end of week 3. Three weeks of being a raw food vegan. It hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had ups and downs, I’ve had moments where I thought, “can I really do this?” to “I just want to order a pizza like the rest of the world” And then my good friend Jodi would text me back and say NO YOU DON’T! haha …But I don’t even eat pizza. Cheese in piles never really agreed with me to begin with. And of course, there is delicious RAW pizza! No meat or dairy required. I’ve had moments

Seasonal Soup

That cool Autumn breeze is blowing in and with it comes…SOUP! Soup, you say? Aren’t you “raw” ??? Why yes, soup! As long as food is not heated above 115 degrees, all of it’s nutrients and enzymes stay in tact and you reap the full benefits of what you are eating. Soup can be heated so that it is warm to the touch and under 115 degrees…and that makes me super happy because I love soup in the fall and winter months. I’ve been trying my hand at my own tomato soup recipe and I think I have it pretty

I Heart Nutbutters

Say goodbye to peanut butter…say hello to nutbutters! Pecan, cashew, macadamia, walnut, almond, and many more! Nut butters are a bazillion times better for you than peanut butter, because the one and only ingredient in nut butter, is NUTS. I borrowed this info from Raw Yoda’s site (lovestreetlivingfoods) Compare for yourself: Ingredients in commercial peanut butterroasted peanutssugar (adverse effects on brain chemistry; causes obesity)molassesGMO soybean oil (high in trans fat–added to make the butter easier to spread)GMO canola oil (used only as a furniture polish until a short time ago, linked with adverse effects in asthma and hay fever sufferers)monoglycerides

A Special Blog Just for the Ladies!

I decided if I’m going to blog about raw food, I might as well share everything I’ve learned and noticed along the way. This would include some information just for the ladies out there. Apparently a side effect of the raw food lifestyle, is that you experience little to zero cramps…during, well, you know. So they’re GONE. I’m talking GONE. This from a girl who in college had to be put on codine so I could sleep because they were that bad. A girl who switched birth control pills four times because they were still bad. They hadn’t been as

Spotlight On Oasis Cafe and Living Cuisine

Oasis Cafe is like discovering a lake of fresh spring water after a lifetime of being thirsty. The cafe is located right on Rt 30 in the Frazer/Malvern area, within a strip of other shops. You might have driven past it and not even noticed. But take a look next time – better yet, stop in and have one of their many amazing raw meals! On their menu you can find everything from a delicious Live Raw salad (which I had today) to sushi style nori rolls, avocado flax wraps, raw veggie pizza, veggie wraps, to a zucchini parfait with

I Don’t Smell

It’s true. I don’t smell…anymore. Well, not that I was “smelly” before, but everyone wears deodorant right? RIGHT? No. NOT right. Not everyone wears deodorant. Smelly Europeans do not. But alas, neither do I! Not anymore! Since going raw, I haven’t worn deodorant. It’s a good way to gauge the toxins in your body. The less toxins you have, the less you “smell”. I am proud to say that I haven’t worn deodorant in ummmm 8 days… Anddddddd…I don’t smell. I’m serious, I’m sniffing my arm pit right now, and nothing! Nada. Zilch. I guess when you eat amazing raw

The Spiralizer!

Check THIS out! It’s called the Spirooli Spiralizer! I can make any veggie into pasta like noodles! Just add homemade fresh marinara and serve! OR, use this to slice up any veggie for an easier way to roll veggies into a wrap! I ordered mine from 877myjuicer.com or just google Spirooli and it should come up!

Week 2

It’s the Monday of Week 2 and I am pretty darn excited. I feel awesome…actually, I feel rawsome! That could have something to do with the fact that I’m eating live food, which still has it’s energy in tact. I’m also super ridonculously giddy at the FACT that I lost 7.5 pounds in a week. In a WEEK! Who does that? Not me, ever. But now I do apparently. So I’m pretty stoked to see what the scale says when I hop on again Sunday morning. The fact that I can basically eat whatever I want by doing the raw

West Chester Growers Market

I went to the market this morning and discovered that only ONE farm at the entire growers market is Organic. Just one. Just one little tent. I couldn’t believe it. It made me sad. So of course, that is where I got all of my fantastic produce, which included: basil, tomatoes, spicy salad mix (it has mustard greens in it- totally awesome by the way), radishes, peppers, etc. The farm is called Red Earth Farms. I looked them up when I got home, and found they are a 13 acre farm just about 2 hours from me and they offer
