Camping Trip to Lake George

I spent the past week in the beautiful Adirondacks with an amazing group of people.  We swam in the lake, rock climbed, kayaked, hiked, had campfires, saw shooting stars and satellites zooming through the night sky and it was wonderful.  I miss it already.  I miss those trees and those mountains…that fresh air and clear, clean water to swim in. I miss this incredible view… It was my first time rock climbing outside (I did a chimney climb a few years ago but I didn’t have much I needed to do except go straight up- so I don’t really count that

Jersey gets Raw, Vegan and Organic at Seed to Sprout

You know you’ve come to the right place when you arrive at a restaurant for brunch on a Sunday morning, 10 minutes before it even opens, and you see a line of 15 people eagerly waiting for the door to be unlocked.  I had the delight of visiting Seed to Sprout in Avon by the Sea, NJ recently and it was wonderful!  It’s so refreshing to dine where the menu is full of local, vegan, organic goodness.  Just “real. good. food.” as they say on their website.  They’re right. Banana Bites

Make breakfast more fun for everyone with Banana Bites! These are simple and easy to put together: Just peel and slice a ripe banana into thin (1/4″) slices. Add a dollop of your favorite nut butter – I used organic peanut butter –  to the top of each slice. Peel and slice a second banana and lay those slices on top of the nut butter to make a mini sandwich aka banana bite! Enjoy immediately, or cover and place in the freezer for later.  After these have frozen, they taste like banana peanut butter ice cream!

Chocolate Power Balls

Love chocolate?  Want a healthy way to satisfy that craving and get a boost of energy at the same time? I’ve got you covered. I whipped these up last night to have as a pre-workout snack for the next few days (and they go fantastically with coffee in the morning!) INGREDIENTS: About 15-20 Medjool dates 1/3 cup of shredded coconut 2/3 cup of gluten-free, old fashioned oats 1 scoop of Sunwarrior chocolate protein powder Remove the pits from the dates.  Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until mixed together.  Then continue to let it mix in the

Fruity Breakfasts and Gut Health
