It’s time to get your Irish on!
Skip the junk-filled generic shamrock shake and make this tasty delight instead!
- 1 frozen ripe banana
- 1 handful of spinach
- 1 handful of mint leaves (I used about 10-15 mint leaves)
- 3/4 cup of almond milk (add more if needed later – any diary-free milk will do if you don’t have almond milk)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of dark chocolate chips (or two…two tablespoons is okay too 😉 )
Note: For the frozen banana – you want the peel to be spotty with little brown dots – that’s how you know a banana is really sweet! Once I have a bunch of super spotty bananas, I peel them, break them into 2 inch pieces and place them in the freezer in a plastic baggie. Then I add them to my smoothies whenever I make one and because the banana is frozen, I don’t need to use ice!
Substitutions: You can use cacao powder or a chocolate protein powder as a substitute for the chocolate chips, and you could also skip the chocolate and add a vanilla protein powder to turn this more into a vanilla shamrock shake.
